Matches, Sounds like, Begins with

Matches means that the search results must contain the entered keywords in the appropriate fields (see limitations below).

Sounds like searches will return fuzzy results that are "close" to the entered keywords and is useful for mispelled words. It is meaningless to use this search type for numeric only search fields. Sounds like searches for a number will always perform a matches search.

Begins with searches are left hand stemming searches for the entered keyword/phrase. That is, a partial word, or number, can be entered and fields containing that partial word, or a larger word that begins with the entered term, will be returned. Because some of the Registry data may contain phrases, partial word searches, at first, may seem a little confusing because any word beginning with the entered search term that occurs in the data phrase will be considered a match.

Search Syntax

Search terms should consist of words and/or numbers but not include double quotes, plus or minus signs.

Some Examples

Adding and Removing Search Criteria

Use the and buttons to add and remove search criteria. All search criteria must be met in order for a search result to appear. Up to 6 search criteria can be specified. In some particular cases, multiple repeated criteria are not permitted.

Assignment Frequency/Date Range Search - Omni Location/Site Input

This omni text input allows the searching of a -Lat,Long pair, an ACMA Site, or a full Australian street Address. Once a valid location has been established/selected, you can search for assignments within the specified distance from this location. The location search precedence is as follows;

  1. A valid -Lat,Long pair
  2. A match on Site ID
  3. A text match on Site Name
  4. A text match on a Street Address
  5. A fuzzy text match on a Street Address (eg, incorrect spellings)
An autocomplete of matching results may be shown as you enter a search term. Sites and Addresses can be distinguished by the icon prefixed in the suggested results.

What is a valid -Lat,Long pair?

A simplistic parser enables the entering of a latitude and longitude in this omni text input. Latitudes and Longitudes must be decimal numeric only and within valid GDA94 geodesic ranges. Note that latitudes in the southern hemisphere are negative. The supported syntax is; -Lat,Long (ie; Latitude comma Longitude) (example; -35.2,150.1).

Singular Result drilldown

Some of the core Register searches will return a details (drilldown) page if one single result is found to match your search criteria instead of showing the results listing page. That is, the result listing page will not be shown, under certain circumstances, if your search returns one single match - you will be shown the particular details page instead.

Minimal Browser Requirements

The Register is best suited to browsers supporting HTML5, SVG and javascript. If your browser does not support these features, then you may experience some loss of functionality, rendering problems, and poorer response times. If you use Internet Explorer, the oldest version supported for this Register is IE10.

Site Location Map

Please Note: The Site Location Map page on this Register now requires a HTML5 capable browser (such as; Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, Safari or Edge). If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) - a suggested workaround is to; 1) Go to "Developer Tools" by pressing F12, 2) Select "Emulation", 3) set "Document Mode" to "Edge" and "Browser Profile" to "Desktop". The map page should then render correctly.
